Professor Kurpis shocked everyone when he announced that we can decide our grading system and the format of our next exam. As a student, I know that everybody would love to get a higher grade on their transcript, so that’s why everybody is glad to hear about this opportunity. Professor Kurpis tried not to interfere with our decisions, so he seats back on his chair through out the decision making process. Half of my classmate wanted to drop the lowest grade, and the other half of them wanted to curve it. In order to fulfill everybody’s needed, we decided to drop the lowest grade and curve the highest grade. Around 98% of our classmates think it is a brilliant idea. However, three people didn’t agree with this idea because they think it is not fair to the professor. Through out the whole decision making process, everybody seems so energized and formidable because everybody wanted to speak out their opinion about how the exam should be graded. It took about 30 minutes for us to decide the grading system that we desire. In the beginning, not 100% of student really in favor of this proposal from their heart, but we still have 100% on the vote after we set up a compromise with them. They understand that it might be better for the majority. Usually when I get into a chaotic situation, I would be more likely to use the method “compete to win” to handle it. However, after this class activity, I learned that it is better to “compromise” with others in a chaotic situation because we can get better result. We all got what we wanted because we compromise with each other.

hi how are you? i think that we could have came up with a decision so much faster. I know how you felt though. At times i wanted to run up to the front and just take control but there were just too many people talking out loud trying to be the leader and the last thing we needed was more people adding fuel to the fire that we started. But anyways, as long as we all got what we wanted. I'm glad we decided to curve because i didn't do as good as i wanted. Well anyways, take care...nice pic, you look like a model in your picture. see u in class
I actually learned to respect other people's opinions during the activity. at the first time when I heard some people against the idea that most classmates agreed upon, I was kind of upset and think that was really stupid and selfish action they took. But like people said, the minority may not be always wrong and majority certainly cannot be always has right answers as well. Listening and try to embrace other ideas eventhough you don't like it can be really beneficial.
This was the most stressful class i ever attended! I can't say that i'm dissapointed with the result however, but it was painful to get there.
I was frustrated during the whole class. Thinking we would not come to a agreement. Compromising was the best way to deal with our situation, too bad a few people were self-fish and took a long time to agree with us.
